“Will it fit a Barbeque?” How SpareFoot Uses GoodData to Answer Customer Calls on the First Ring.

I love clever use cases for our business intelligence platform and I’m frequently impressed with the how cloud BI can help create data-driven services for almost anyone, even packrats like myself. Yes, there is a BI solution that helps me store my stuff, and GoodData has invited Josh Lipton, the VP of Technology at SpareFoot, the world’s best marketplace for self-storage, to chat with me at Dreamforce about it.

Our informal half-hour fireside will delve into the ways SpareFoot has implemented GoodData’s Open Analytics Platform to unify their data to provide the best storage solutions to their customers. SpareFoot is an industry leader in customer experience, and their implementation of GoodData’s customer service analytics means that their call center staffing has been perfectly tuned. Instead of an automated answering service, a SpareFoot customer experience team member picks up the phone after one ring. No menus, no automated voice commands, just a fine-tuned, analytics-driven team answering the phone as soon as you call, to reassure you that your baseball cards, record albums and camping gear will be safe.

Josh has long been an advocate of cloud technologies as a whole. In addition to hosting SpareFoot entirely in the cloud, he has set up cloud-based communications for SpareFoot, and he serves on Box’s Customer Advisory Board.

In our discussion we will touch on:

  • What business intelligence and analytics challenges disruptive startups in traditional industries face
  • Why SpareFoot chose a cloud business intelligence solution
  • How SpareFoot unified their data sources with GoodData
  • SpareFoot’s journey to cloud BI implementation
  • His favorite characters on A&E’s Storage Wars reality series

If you want to learn more about cloud BI for disruptive, innovative startups, please join us.
